About Ashin Tikkhanyana

Ashin Tikkhanyana was born in Gangaw, Magway Division, Myanmar in 1978 and fully ordained on December 20, 2000. He studies from 1992 to 1994 at the Mahamyeint Monastery in Mandalay, from 1994 to 2002 at the Tipitaka Mahagandayone Monastery in Yangon, from 2002 to 2004 at the Visuddhayone Monastery in Yangon, from 2004 to 2007 at the Visuddhayone Monastery in Mandalay, and from 2007 to 2010 at Kalaniya University in Sri Lanka. He earned an MA at Kalaniya University and also holds Samanekyaw, Sasanadhaja Dhammacariya, and Vinaya Vidu degrees.

Ashin Tikkhanyana was a lecturer at Visuddhayone in Yangon and Mandalay for 6 years, and a meditator at Oh tone Tawya Meditation Centre, before being invited to the Sitagu Dhamma Vihara under the invitation of U Aung Koe’s and U Aung Than’s personal private sponsorship. He enjoys traveling and is a proficient public speaker. He arrived in Minneapolis on December 29th 2010, in order to take over as abbot.
